Red Dead Redemption 2 is getting a next-gen upgrade according to leaked Microsoft documents

Red Dead Redemption 2one of the most critically acclaimed and commercially successful video games of all time is set to receive a next-generation upgrade, according to leaked documents from Microsoft.
News of a possible upgrade to the Western surfaced in May 2022 in an email exchange between Microsoft executives discussing the upcoming roster and titles that could be leveraged if added to Game Pass.
The emails, leaked as part of an ongoing litigation between Microsoft and the FTC, show that Microsoft plans to release a next-gen version of Red Dead Redemption 2 during or shortly after the ended second quarter of fiscal 2023 from Take-Two on September 30, 2022 (image via Reddit).
Of course, there hasn’t been a release of an updated Red Redemption 2, but that doesn’t mean Rockstar isn’t working on an update for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S – it just hasn’t been announced yet. Rockstar is very secretive, plus the release plans may have changed – or it could have been canceled.
But a next-gen version of the game would be a welcome addition to the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S libraries. It’s already a masterpiece and a next-gen upgrade with improved graphics, performance and load times could make it even better.
Red Dead Redemption 2 was released on PS4 and Xbox One in 2018 and on PC in 2019 and has sold over 55 million copies over time.
