Resistance Retribution was a PSP-exclusive title released in 2009 when Resistance IP was thriving in the PlayStation 3 era. Unfortunately, Resistance 3 would conclude the series, and without an entry for an entire generation of consoles, Sony might have abandoned IP entirely and made other IPs a priority. However, a curious listing on the Korea Games Rating Board suggests it could be a current-gen re-release.
Resistance Retribution – Is It Coming Back?
Resistance Retribution and many other games were rated by the Korea Games Rating Board today, including titles like Overwatch, God of War Ragnarok, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge. and resistance retaliation.
Discovered by Twitter user, The jamthe strangest listing is that of Resistance Retribution and the listing for the PS4/PS5.
This could be the case when the game is ported to the new consoles as part of the new PlayStation Plus plans, as one of the tiers will include the ability to play PSP games natively like PS1 classics.
Resistance Retribution was a game tied to the main console entries and released for the PSP in 2009 but never received any love or further details from there. While speculation of a remaster or remake is on the horizon, it’s better to assume this will be the PSP polished up for release for PlayStation Plus subscribers.
With the current rollout currently being exclusive to Asia, we’ll have to wait for a global release to see if the upcoming PSP games are as good or bad as the PS1 versions. While it’s a rocky start for Sony at the moment, we don’t yet have numbers to show how bad or good the program’s reception is.
