Rideshare driver drops passenger off Denver Highway after she falls ill in his car. She was hit by 2 vehicles and died.

A woman was hit by two vehicles and died on a Denver freeway after a rideshare driver dropped her off when she felt nauseous in his car.

The incident happened shortly after midnight on New Year’s Day on Colorado’s I-25 freeway near junction 470.

Investigators say the unidentified woman in the ride-along car had fallen ill and the fare was canceled by her friends. The driver then dropped her off at the edge of the busy freeway.

The woman walked onto the freeway and was run over by a truck. She fell and was hit by another car. The driver of the truck didn’t stop, but the driver of the car did.

Thornton Police arrested 33-year-old Adam Wooley, from Frederick, on Monday after he turned himself in to driving the dark-colored pickup truck. He was charged with hit and run resulting in death.

A witness said KUSA TV that she was driving behind the truck that hit the woman first.

“I just couldn’t believe it,” said the woman, who identified herself only as Roxy. “The truck in front of me swerved but when it dodged a bit it still hit her and she kind of, she just flew up.”

The rideshare driver was not charged with criminal charges, but attorney Jonathan Douglas was said KCNC TV that the driver could be prosecuted civilly for his actions.

“It appears that this woman was abandoned by the side of the road, and not just on the street, I-25. That’s pretty shocking.”

Thornton Police said the rideshare driver fully cooperated with the investigation into the woman’s death.

“The whole situation is just awful,” Roxy concluded.
