Us weekly confirmed earlier this month that Asghari filed for divorce from Spears, 41, on Aug. 16 after 13 months of marriage, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split. In the filing, Asghari asked for spousal support and asked the Grammy winner to pay his legal fees. (Us previously reported that Spears and Asghari signed an ironclad prenuptial agreement prior to their wedding.)

“After six years of love and commitment to each other, my wife and I have decided to end our journey together. We will hold on to the love and respect we have for one another and I always wish her the best,” Asghari wrote via Instagram a day after filing the documents. “St happened. Asking for privacy seems ridiculous [sic] So I ask everyone, including the media, to be kind and considerate.”

It was love at first sight when Britney Spears and Sam Asghari met on the set of their music video “Slumber Party” in October 2016, but the tale doesn’t have a happy ending. Spears was delighted when she chatted with Asghari and the two exchanged phone numbers and continued to get to know each other. […]

For her part, Spears broke her silence the next day. “As everyone knows, Hesam and I are no longer together. 6 years is a long time to be with someone so I’m a little shocked but… I’m not here to explain why because honestly it’s nobody’s business!!!” she wrote via Instagram. “But honestly I couldn’t take the pain anymore!!! In a kind of telepathic way I have received so many messages from friends that have melted my heart and thank you!!!”

Shortly after Spears addressed the breakup, she threw a party for her friends and shared inside footage of the party. In the post, the singer donned a sparkly green sequin dress and shared a clip of her dancing with a group of shirtless men.

“When you meet up with a so-called ‘friend’ and eat chicken for an hour!!! Then you have to wait in the car and go to the toilet,” she captioned her post. “I knew [photographers] got a tip because the car i was in has never been used…so what does a bitch like me do!!??! I put on my green dress and show up to my friends!!! I invited my favorite guys over and played all night!!!”
