San Bernardino shooting: Allen Gresham Jr., 20, has been identified as the victim of a fatal shooting at THA Blue Flame hookah bar

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (KABC) — As a makeshift memorial begins to grow, family members and loved ones pay tribute to the 20-year-old, who was killed during a shooting at a party in San Bernardino.

Allen Gresham Jr. was killed when gunfire erupted late Friday night at THA Blue Flame, a hookah bar near the intersection of Palm Avenue and Highland Avenue, according to investigators.

Police have since described the party as an “unauthorized special event.” Investigators believe some sort of argument ensued between at least two people and “several shots were exchanged.”

Gresham was found dead at the scene while eight others were injured.

A memorial filled the bar’s car park on Sunday morning in honor of the 20-year-old.

Gresham was from San Bernardino and according to his grandmother, he had attended the party after receiving a flyer, although details of what the flyer said are unknown. Eyewitness News also spoke to Gresham’s aunt, Pamela Brown, who said she is still in shock.

“He was just outside [Friday night] you had a good time you know?” she said. He wasn’t a gangster. He graduated from school. He got his driver’s license. He worked at the hairdresser’s. He got his own car. He stayed home with his grandmother, you know, he was fine. A good kid. I don’t know how that happened.”

Witnesses reported seeing a large group of teenagers who appeared to have gathered for a graduation ceremony.

A witness said that at one point a car pulled into the gas station and a person opened fire from inside the vehicle, shooting dead two girls.

“When everything was happening, all we heard was gunshots and many children were running,” she said. “There were a lot of kids running, you know, calling their moms, and I just stood there and I was like, ‘What can I do?'”

Police say not all of the victims were intentionally attacked by the gunman.

COVID-19, shootings: will mass death be tolerated in America now?

Police arrested two people while initially trying to secure the crime scene, one of whom was arrested for possession of a loaded stolen firearm and the other for pending warrants, the San Bernardino Police Department said. It was not immediately clarified whether those arrested were suspects in the shooting.

There was no description of the suspect or suspects.

Authorities said the motive for the shooting was being investigated further.
