Santa Ana Vehicle Accident Sends Several Children to Hospital; Incendiary devices found in suspect’s car, police say

SANTA ANA, Calif. (KABC) — Several children were taken to the hospital Monday after they were hit by a car that pulled onto the sidewalk in Santa Ana, police said.

The collision happened near Taft Elementary School. At least three children were taken to the hospital in stable condition, officials said.

The age of the children was not initially known.

Investigators say the driver of the car entered Taft Elementary School shortly before the collision and was escorted off campus.

While searching for the suspect’s car, officers discovered a “suspicious incendiary device,” and the Orange County Bomb Squad was called in to assist, officials said.

According to the Santa Ana Police Department, three other incendiary devices were found. It was not immediately clarified whether arrests were made.

Authorities cleared the school campus and resumed its normal schedule.

The Santa Ana Police Department is cooperating with the Santa Ana Unified School District Police Department and the OC Sheriff’s Department in this ongoing investigation.
