Security guard shot in vehicle in Laguna Hills neighborhood; Investigations are ongoing

LAGUNA HILLS, Calif. (KABC) — A security guard was shot and at least one person of interest was arrested in a Laguna Hills neighborhood Tuesday morning.
The shooting was reported around 11 a.m. near Saddle Rock Place and Bridlewood Drive, near Oso Parkway and the 5 Freeway.
When officers arrived, they found the unidentified security guard shot to death in his vehicle. Authorities told Eyewitness News he was shot in the upper body and may have been hit multiple times. He was hospitalized in unknown condition.
AIR7 HD was over the scene during the investigation and captured a large police force blocking several streets.
Authorities said a person of interest was arrested, but a weapon was not found.
“He surrendered peacefully and at this time investigators are conducting an investigation to locate this weapon,” said Mike Woodruff of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
The relationship between the affected person and the victim is unknown.
Meanwhile, there was an ongoing SWAT situation about a mile from the shooting scene.
Authorities said the person involved had ties to the home. As a precautionary measure, SWAT was called in to ensure the safety of responding deputies and the surrounding community.
The scene has since been cleared and authorities said there is no threat to the public.
