‘Sister Wives’ preview: Kody Brown calls on friends for support

Kody Brown is like any other married man. Sometimes the sister wives Star just needs a night out with the boys. Or as Kody likes to call it, “Testosterone Tuesday.”

In Us weekly In the exclusive clip from the September 3 episode, fourth woman Robyn Brown explains that she’s “always encouraging[s] Kody should have time for his guy.” Second wife Janelle Brown agrees that Kody saw his friends “fairly regularly” when the family lived in Utah.

“Polygamy could literally be a personality diluting gift,” he tells his friends. “But if I’m married to this woman and she’s really argumentative and I don’t like her, it would be nice to have another woman because then I can get away from her for a while.”

Oops, said every woman everywhere. What an idiot. Maybe he should be wondering if the reason she’s “quarrelsome” has something to do with how he treats her. I can’t even.

The Benefits of Plural Marriage (According to Kody)

At the very least, Kody concedes that plural marriage has its perks for contentious wives, too. “When I’m the one who’s argumentative,” he says, “she thinks, ‘It would be nice if you had another woman so I can get a break from you.'”

Janelle wholeheartedly agrees with her ex’s comments in the confessional, laughing that Kody “got it on the nose.” First wife Meri Brown finds this statement offensive.

“Comments like that make me puke,” she replies. “Maybe you should look at the bigger picture… and figure out how you can work together and be together instead of using someone else as an escape route.” Are you kidding me?” From the way Kody has treated her over the past few years, Meri should just be glad he has somewhere else to go.

Third wife Christine Brown was the first of Kody’s wives to leave him, announcing in November 2021 that she was moving back to Utah. She is now engaged to Utah-based drywall contractor David Woolley.

Recognize past mistakes

Looking back, Kody admits to his buddies that there was “a time in his marriage to Christine that he realized.” [was his] biggest mistake.” He recalls a time when Christine was “in this breakup situation and telling me how much she hated polygamy.” Looking back, he now knows he could have reacted better.

“My mistake was when she said, ‘I hate polygamy,'” he admits. “I thought, ‘What the hell? You wouldn’t have a family, you wouldn’t have me, you wouldn’t have our children.’”

Now he wishes he’d told her instead, “I know it’s hard baby, I’m sorry. I love you and I wish it didn’t hurt.” This 2020 throwback can be a bitch. Or maybe it’s just “quarrelsome”?
