SNL: Aubrey Plaza parodies ‘The White Lotus’ – Watch video

with The White Lotus Star Aubrey Plaza, who hosts Saturday Night Live, has hilariously spoofed the sketch series popular anthology with a new show: The Black Lotus. On the surface, The Black Lotus mirrors the real HBO series in that it follows wealthy vacationing tourists, except at this resort the staff “don’t have time for this nonsense.” The skit begins with Chloe Fineman repeating her impression of Jennifer Coolidge as she checks into the resort. Realizing she forgot her credit card, she asks the hotel’s concierge (played by Kenan Thompson) if he can trust her enough to allow her to pay later.

“No, I can’t. I do not know you! I’m trying to run a business!” he says.

At White Lotus Resort, the drama hinges on what lurks in the unspoken, but at Black Lotus things swing in the opposite direction to create comedy based on amplifying the obvious. When the fake Michael Imperioli asks for hotel keys for a pair of women he hopes will “come and go as they please,” the Black Lotus staff lacks the kind of niceties the White Lotus might have granted him .

“Hey William! Give those hoes a spare key for the room,” concierge Ego Nwodim calls across the hotel lobby. “Everyone! Treat these hoes like normal people.”

Many of the White Lotus guests are fake, including Tanya’s assistant Portia and her love interest Jack, as well as Dominic, the son of Michael Imperioli’s character. Plaza herself takes on a new role as an impatient bartender.

Plaza’s work inspired sketches throughout the episode, with an opening monologue reviving her days as an NBC side, a Parks and Recreation reprisal starring Amy Poehler, and even an unexpected one white lotus Reference in an equally hilarious M3gan sketch.

In a trailer for an upcoming sequel to the hit sci-fi horror m3gan, Plaza embodies the second iteration of the M3gan 2.0 robot doll. The trailer says Megan 2.0 becomes “just like Brothers, but for the gays.

In the skit, we see Plaza as a robot puppet “breathing life” into a group of gay men in a nightclub. It ends with a cameo from Allison Williams and all the “hungry bitches” in the club dance to the notorious white lotus theme song.
