Snyder Cut fans “thank you” to the “Josstice League” on their fifth anniversary

DC fans will remember Joss Whedon directing justice leaguefor better or for worse, on the fifth anniversary of its publication.
“Today marks the 5th anniversary of the theatrical release of justice league (November 17, 2017),” Reddit user u/DoctorBeatMaker posted on the r/DC_Cinematic subreddit alongside his unjustifiably iconic Alex Ross-inspired poster.
“This isn’t really celebrated for a few reasons,” one Reddit user rightly pointed out, citing a variety of issues with the film that have since become infamous, including a “rotten” score on Rotten Tomatoes, a drama behind the scenes surrounding the re-recordings and Whedon’s alleged abusive behavior and Henry Cavill’s infamous computer-generated upper lip to cover up his contractual obligations, Mission Impossible: Fallout-related moustache.
Although the film – which is colloquially known today as the Josstice League — universally hated by moviegoers, there’s an unexpected aspect that deserves gratitude from director Zack Snyder’s fans, as pointed out by a Reddit user.
“If there is one thing we can thank Josstice League for [is] that it was so bad that it made a lot of people who saw the film feel like it [to] join the snyder cut movement,” the commenter wrote, citing the fact that original director Snyder eventually released his version of the film, 2021 Zack Snyder’s Justice Leaguewhich was much better received when it released on HBO Max after heavy campaigning from fans and even cast members like Ben Affleck (Batman) and Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman).
“Unironically, the whole introduction of this movie and Snyder Cut Dreams got me fully on board with superhero comics and their lore in general,” wrote another Reddit user.
Another Reddit user shared his story of his 2017 exit justice league because it was so bad without any knowledge of the problems behind the scenes. they continued
“Fast forward 5 years later and ZSJL is my favorite DCEU movie. Crazy how things work.”
Over on Twitter, a clear Snyder fanatic posted a few photos of some Josstice League‘s scariest moments next to a poop emoji.
“These screencaps 💀💀💀” wrote another Twitter user.
Another commenter called the Josstice League “The greatest sin WB ever committed.” And judging by Cavill’s Superman’s creepy upper lip, we think that’s a fair assessment.
Surprisingly, there were some defenders of the Josstice League also on Twitter.
For another movie fan who Josstice League‘s release “burned” them, but it marked the beginning of a movement.
“The #ReleaseTheSnyderCut movement started to grow, we fought and we won.”
