Some lucky The Last of Us fans are getting a chance to catch the HBO series days early

in just over a week, The last of us Premiered on HBO. Expectations are high: Game Director Neil Druckmann and Chernobyl‘s Craig Mazin is the creative lead, the show is on a monster budget, Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey look great as Joel and Ellie, and they’re backed by an excellent supporting cast.

We’ve been counting down the days until its release for a while, but some lucky fans in New York City will have a chance to catch the show three days before the rest of us. HBO has partnered with iota to create an “immersive experience” that transports participants to this nightmarish future, as well as a screening of the first episode:

You can apply for tickets on 1iota’s website, although they advise that “capacity is limited”. Expect this to be a hot ticket, but those who pull their name out of a hat are likely to have a night to remember. Judging by the booking site, there will be four staggered showings known as “Firefly A, B & C” and “Fedra A, B & C” on January 12 between 1:00pm ET and 10:15pm ET.

Although these are named after the opposing forces in The last of usthere doesn’t seem to be any difference to the guests as the website explains that the names are just references to the screening room where the episode will be shown. Also, guests are provided a “light snack and soft drinks” and there is no assigned seating. So if you’re lucky enough to get a seat, don’t be late.

We’re incredibly jealous of anyone who finds a place here and secretly hope that this will be rolled out in other cities, although that seems unlikely at the moment. So good luck to everyone who applies!
