Sophie Turner found out about her divorce through Joe Jonas’ embarrassingly failed media campaign

Unsurprisingly, this PR attempt didn’t go over well and turned out to be a desperate attempt to make a villain out of the woman with whom Jonas has two children. Now Turner is filing a lawsuit against her former husband to have her children returned to her native England. According to the legal documents, Turner’s legal team demanded “the immediate return of the unlawfully abducted or retained children” from Jonas, who was granted custody of the children under a “temporary agreement” due to Turner’s filming commitments. Jonas is now said to have breached the agreement, in which the children’s original plans for a stay in England were suddenly changed and they remained in the US without Turner’s consent.
“The father is in possession of the children’s passports. He refuses to return the mother’s passports and refuses to send the children home to England with the mother,” the documents say.
The documents also claim that their split was “very sudden” after the couple had an argument on August 15 and Jonas filed for divorce two weeks later. The lawsuit goes on to say that Turner learned that the actress only found out about the breakup “through the media” and that she was never told about a formal separation, let alone a divorce, leaving Turner unaware of the abrupt change her family was completely taken by surprise.
The allegations made in these documents are extremely serious and even go so far citing child abduction laws, making Jonas’ actions a criminal offense. Jonas’ alleged attempt to control the narrative surrounding the breakdown of his marriage is rightly met with skepticism from the public. If Turner’s claims in the new legal documents are true, it confirms suspicions that Jonas is using the media to enhance his public image, possibly to the point of violating the law.
