Spider-Man 2 is already the fastest-selling PlayStation Studios game of all time

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is already off to a fantastic start. The PlayStation-exclusive action-adventure sold over 2.5 million copies in its first 24 hours of sales. The massive milestone was announced today on the official PlayStation Twitter account.
This makes Spider-Man 2 the fastest-selling PlayStation first-party game of all time.

The 2.5 million milestone represents copies sold to consumers, so the number of units shipped is likely much higher. No matter how you look at it, 2.5 million sales for a single-player game on a single platform in such a short period of time is worth celebrating.
Great news, Spidey fans – Marvel’s #SpiderMan2PS5 sold more than 2.5 million copies in the first 24 hours. Thank you for making this great launch possible! pic.twitter.com/k3KdioW6x7

Before Spider-Man 2 snagged that title, the previous record holder was God of War Ragnarok, which sold 5.1 million copies in five days when it was released in November last year. Ragnarok, of course, had the advantage of being released on two platforms – PS4 and PS5 – which makes Spider-Man 2’s record all the more impressive. Of course, keep in mind that Spider-Man 2 has a more family-friendly rating than God of War, which automatically expands its potential audience.
The PlayStation 5 is still in early stages of development, so Sony is probably very happy to see such a solid retention rate for one of its biggest exclusive games, and that definitely bodes well for Spider-Man 3 or whatever the next big first-party is -Game may be from Sony will be.
