“Star Wars” – Lee Jung-jae Cast in “The Acolyte” series

A Squid Game Star has just booked a trip to a galaxy far, far away.
Lee Jung-jae will play the male lead The AcolyteDisney+ is imminent war of stars series, our sister site Deadline reports.
The Acolyte is a mystery thriller set about a century ago The Phantom Menace, in the last days of the High Republic era. According to the original description, the series will bring to light “a galaxy of shadowy mysteries and emerging forces of the dark side.” The project was first announced in 2020.
No further details on Lees acolyte role are available.
Amandla Stenberg (Dear Evan Hansen, The hate you give) was officially cast as the lead actor in July. Jodie Turner Smith (The Last Ship) was reportedly put into production in early September. Russian doll Co-creator Leslye Headland will serve as executive producer, writer and showrunner on the series, which is slated to start production this fall. No premiere date has been set.
Squid Game Viewers will remember Lee as Seong Gi-hun, who took on the titular challenge to win enough money to get out of debt and gain custody of his daughter. Lee snagged an Emmys nomination for Lead Actor (as well as a TVLine Dream Emmys nomination) for his performance; Monday’s ceremony – hosted by SNL‘s Kenan Thompson, which airs on NBC at 8/7c – will reveal if he will take home the statuette.
