Although since the release of 17 years have passed Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the SithFans’ affection for a specific prequel character remains undiminished, leaving them wanting more.

Inlhia took to the r/StarWars subreddit to call for the return of one particular Jedi: Mace Windu (Samuel L. Jackson), stating, “Windu should come back because his death was cheap and cheesy.”

The OP was outraged that one of the galaxy’s greatest Jedi Knights suffered a death they felt was beneath his dignity. Given the absurd return of Emperor Palpatine, the OP argues that despite an epic fall, the return of Windu might not be so absurd after all.

The sentiment was echoed in another thread by jak-80, who wrote, “A Mace Windu series would be very cool […] let him survive ‘the fall’, go on the run and become that old man fighting anger and guilt for failing to kill Palpatine.”

Skelter89 had no problem with Mace’s exit. Electrocuted by Palpatine, the Jedi Master lost his hand in combat and fell from a pulverizing height.

Visionary_Viper finds the infinite resurrection of the dead war of stars favorites and held that heroic figures need not be drowned in the proverbial glamor of glory.

There is no doubt that Mace Windu captured the imagination of war of stars fans in a way that makes them want to see him explored in other contexts. Perhaps something can be learned from the treachery of the envious and Machiavellian Anakin Skywalker. Treason has no dignity. It is invariably a humbling and traumatic experience.
