Andor‘s first season showed fans the very early days of what was to become war of stars“Rebel Alliance. At the time of the show, the rebels were essentially separate cells working in different ways against the Empire, loosely overseen by Stellan Skarsgårds Luthen and Elizabeth Dulaus Kleya.

At this point, the Empire isn’t even sure there is a coordinated rebellion, with ISB Supervisor Dedra Meero being the only person beginning to connect the dots between seemingly unrelated attacks on Imperial facilities. So how do we get from there to the original trilogy where the Rebel Alliance is a fully armed militia capable of engaging in open combat against the Empire?

There are a few points in there war of stars history who are obvious candidates. The Battle of Yavin and the destruction of the Death Star represents the first major victory against the Empire, marking a major setback and proving to the galaxy that the Imperials are not invincible:

Andor‘s second season should clarify this. This is said to take place in the three years leading up to the Battle of Yavin and presumably depicts the various rebel factions uniting under the banner of the Rebel Alliance. This is currently being filmed in the UK and is scheduled to air in 2024.
