Stardew Valley developer Concerned Ape reveals four new screenshots of Haunted Chocolatier

Stardew Valley developer Eric “Concerned Ape” Barone has celebrated reaching one million followers on social media site X by releasing four new screens for his upcoming game The Haunted Chocolatier.

The new stills showcase Barone’s distinctive pixel art style while highlighting a range of game environments, including a woodland area where a familiar red-clad character fires an arrow at a monster, and a whimsical saloon/homey interior.

We also got a look inside a library that contains a spooky skeleton and four books that just reek of secrets, as well as a closer look at the town square seen in the October 2021 reveal trailer, which features an ornate Mermaid fountain is located.

“I love the style,” Redditer Darkest4 wrote in a post introducing the new images. “It’s quite strange that the skill bar only seems to have four slots. Very different from Stardew.” _Bowtye_ said: “Hurry up, let’s reach 2 million followers on Twitter to get 4 more screenshots!”

Barone first discussed the project that would become The Haunted Chocolatier in 2017, less than two years after the release of Stardew Valley. “For my next game, I want to go all out with my ideas, take things to the extreme, create an even richer and more detailed game world… and delight players with continually handcrafted experiences,” the Stardew creator told Time.

The title was officially revealed back in 2021, when Barone explained: “If Stardew Valley channels primarily the energy of the sun, Haunted Chocolatier channels the energy of the moon.” Both are vital. More important than all of that is that I just want to make a fun game.”

Almost everything that has to do with the Haunted Chocolatier remains mysterious. However, last month Barone shared a screen showing a familiar-looking older man waking up in a bed, leading many fans to theorize that Stardew Valley’s grandpa could somehow be involved in the upcoming game’s plot.

Concerned Ape has paused work on the Haunted Chocolatier to develop the highly anticipated Update 1.6 for Stardew Valley, which will bring a number of new features and items to the game, such as eight-player multiplayer on PC and hats for cats (and). Dogs). There is no release date yet.
