It means she has been forced to pull out of this year’s series of the hit BBC One competition.

Then, after undergoing a mastectomy a month later, she recounted how doctors had found cancer elsewhere in her body.

Brave Amy has now started chemotherapy and recently made the heartbreaking decision to shave her hair.

However, in a shocking health update, Amy revealed complications after chemotherapy almost took her life.

Speaking to The Mirror, she explained: “After my first two cycles I started having the life-threatening side effects that can come with chemotherapy, so for the first month I had it all.”

She continued: “I had a fever and was unaware of the severity of the temperature.

“I got up, collapsed, mom called 911 and they said, ‘Call an ambulance immediately’.”

Amy, who contracted an infection, went into septic shock – because her blood pressure was so low, her organs could have failed.

She explained what had happened: “I had severely low blood pressure, a low heart rate, I didn’t pass urine for 14 hours, my infection markers were at dangerous levels. I was given three different types of antibiotics and ended up reacting to the third type.

“A week later we met the paramedics and they said if I had gone to bed that night I might not have woken up the next morning.”

Despite being reassured by her doctor that she had just been unlucky and contracted an infection before chemotherapy, Amy had to go back to hospital.

After her second round of chemotherapy, she developed blood clots, which she said gave her “scare.”

“My arm swelled and turned purple and I was really short of breath. So I was brought back in immediately. It was also scary. I’ve been taking blood thinners for six months now.”

Amy joined Strictly Come Dancing in 2017 and quickly became a fan favorite.

Last year the dancer was paired with EastEnders star James Bye.
