WALNUT, Calif. (KABC) — A suspect was arrested Wednesday after stabbing a student during an altercation at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, authorities said.

The incident was reported around 11:35 a.m

Authorities said the student was stabbed outside a building and was taken to the hospital shortly after. His condition remains unknown.

The suspect, who was not immediately identified, was arrested.

AIR7 HD could be seen over the scene, which showed several police vehicles blocking part of the building.

It is unclear what led to the stabbing, but according to City News Service, a spokesperson for Mt. San Antonio College said an argument between the suspect and the victim escalated into a physical altercation that led to the stabbing. Both the victim and the suspect are students of the university, the spokesperson added.

The incident remains under investigation.
