Summer temperatures and afternoon storms this week

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) – The trend for the working week is uncertain with many chances of scattered showers and storms as a weak frontal boundary stretches across the region with little movement this week.

Many areas hit temperatures around 90 degrees on Sunday afternoon and we will see similar readings on Monday. Daytime warming contributes to pulsing thunderstorms that could bring strong gusty winds and heavy rains.

This pattern is not breaking midweek as we see slightly ‘cooler’ readings as they drop into the low 80s, but scattered showers and storms will remain.

We are tracking a cold front that will sweep across the region late Friday or Saturday and will finally break this erratic pattern of afternoon thunderstorms.
