Surveillance video shows a DUI suspect entering Ventura’s home

VENTURA, Calif. (KABC)– Surveillance video captured the moment a DUI suspect rammed a vehicle into the front of a home in Ventura.
The accident happened around 1 a.m. Saturday at the home near Jamestown Street and Mercer Avenue, according to the Ventura Police Department. A neighbor’s camera captured the driver, who immediately fled the scene on foot.
An off-duty police officer who was in the area was able to locate him. When other officers responded to arrest the man, police said he was drunk and tried to hit one of them during the arrest.
Police identified the man as Michael Souter, a registered sex offender. He was charged with drunk driving, hit and run and attempted assault on an officer.
No one in the house he fell into was injured.
