Ryan Edwards‘ Overdose took place Teen Mom: The Next Chapter — a harrowing incident that left son Bentley “infuriated,” according to the statement Maci bookout.
On Wednesday, September 6th, episode of Teenage mother Maci, 31, received news that her ex had overdosed on drugs just days after he decided to leave court-ordered rehab early.
“Before [Ryan] went to rehab, [Bentley] “I was very worried and very concerned,” Maci told friends of the former couple’s 15-year-old son’s reaction to his father’s ongoing drug problems. “He kept saying, ‘I don’t want him to have to deal with this alone. I’m worried about him.’ And then he was in Texas once [in rehab]For me, like for the rest of us, it’s like a breath of fresh air. We don’t have to worry.”
However, Maci suspected that Ryan’s decision to stop treatment was because he wanted to be with his family and have the opportunity to contact his lawyer while his divorce from his estranged wife was contentious Mackenzie Edwards – had serious consequences. On April 7, Ryan was found “unconscious and unresponsive” in his vehicle, according to an affidavit from Us weekly by the time. Maci told her friends that Ryan had to be revived twice with Narcan – a drug that reverses opioid overdoses.
After Maci told her eldest son that his father had overdosed, Bentley – who had seen his father just days earlier when Ryan arrived at his baseball game – was “just angry,” she recalled.
“How things have been going for the last four or five months and how well things have been going despite all the crap with it [Ryan’s] “I think Bentley is angry because he’s like me,” Maci explained. “Like, ‘Man, do you realize how much potential you have?’ I just think Bentley is just saying, “Damn, ten pieces of the puzzle have been put in the right place, and the five pieces that are left are still not in there.”
Ryan – who was arrested at the time for drunken driving and possession of a controlled substance – was found with a bag containing a “crystal-like substance,” the affidavit states, as well as a “second small bag containing what appeared to be a blue The MTV personality also “advised him to snort a powder before waking up in the back of an ambulance.”
During Wednesday’s episode of Teen Mom: The Next ChapterRyan got candid — and emotional — when discussing his addiction.
“Heroin. Using that is hard. I mean, it could kill you and you wouldn’t even know it,” he said in a confessional, sharing that he didn’t want to go down that path again.
Maci, for her part, cried for Ryan and her son. (Maci also has two children with her husband Taylor McKinney.)
“When I found out that Ryan had overdosed, that was really the first time I was really scared. I needed to have this conversation with Bentley and just… know how I felt [finding out] but Ryan is not my father. “It’s all so hard,” she said, bursting into tears. “Bentley feels like this all happens a thousand times over. And he’s a child.”
Following his overdose and drunk driving arrest, Ryan was sentenced to nearly a year in prison after pleading guilty to molesting 26-year-old Mackenzie earlier this year. (Mackenzie, who has two children with Ryan, filed for divorce from her estranged husband in February.) Ryan was discharged to a nursing home in June, where he was seen with Mackenzie later that summer. Last month, Bentley shared a photo of himself playing golf with Ryan, Taylor and Ryan’s father.
