‘The Boys’ Season 4 First Look: New supes join the cast

Showrunner Eric Kripke previously teased the new cast of Supers ready to dismantle Vought in Season 4.

Vought International’s list expands the realm of The Boys.

A first look at Season 4 introduces two new supes, Firecracker (Valorie Curry) and Sister Sage (Susan Heyward). While details of her roles are still under wraps, her patriotic costumes give some slight hints of her superpowers, thanks to costume designer Laura Jean Shannon. The moniker Sister Sage has already led fans to speculate that the character has a connection to the Sage Grove Center psychiatric institution, shown in Season 2.

Season 4 of the Prime Video series is currently in production. Heyward previously starred in Orange Is the New Black and directs the AppleTV+ series Hello Tomorrow. Curry stars in Peacock’s The Lost Symbol, based on the Dan Brown novel.

It has also been confirmed that Heyward and Curry, Walking Dead alumnus Jeffrey Dean Morgan, will star in a mysterious role in Season 4. “Gen V,” the college spin-off “The Boys,” is also in the works.

The Boys showrunner and executive producer Eric Kripke revealed Weekly entertainment that season 4 is “really going to be this tug of war over Ryan as both men are really trying to get a handle on him” referring to Homelander (Anthony Starr) and Butcher (Karl Urban) trying to get Ryan (Cameron Crovetti) to steer in the right direction. Will Ryan choose to follow his psychopathic biological father, Homelander, or his middle-class quasi-stepfather, Butcher?

“I don’t think the game is over yet,” said Kripke. “I find [Ryan] I saw this one thing and I think we should all be scared because if he becomes another Homelander it’s obviously very bad for the planet. But he’s still Becca’s kid, and there’s still a chance Butcher can pull him into the light. So I think, if anything, we’re just hinting at the danger that would happen if Butcher loses that fight.”

The two new female superheroes are also revealed amid actress Erin Moriarty’s statement that she feels “dehumanized” by so-called fans who comment on their attractiveness. Co-star Karen Fukuhara and former guest star Aya Cash have similarly endured “unsolicited comments” on social media.

“It breaks my heart – I opened a vein for this role and that kind of trolling is exactly what this role (Annie) would be against,” said Moriarty, who plays Starlight. “Everyone goes through their own struggles, let’s not add anything to that.”
