One of the biggest conversations exploding in the horror community’s shadow has to do with filmmaker David Gordon Green The Exorcist Sequel – which is already slated for a later release in October this year. So far, the highly anticipated sequel has enlisted the acting skills of glass onion star Leslie Odom Jr. and the directing prowess of Green, who recently helmed the reboot Halloween Trilogy. And now the upcoming horror extravaganza has recruited another unexpected star to join in the terrifying fun – and that would be the actress Olivia Marcum.

Earlier today, Deadline officially announced that Marcum, who portrayed Matilda in Matilda The Musical, is the latest cast member to be attached to the spooky episode. Aside from her work as Matilda, the upcoming follow-up will be Marcum’s first major horror film – where she will join the cast alongside Odom Jr. Black Panther star Lidya Jewett, And The Exorcist Veteran Ellen Burstyn.

So far, very little information has been released about the aforementioned sequel, but Green himself revealed that the horror film will serve as a direct sequel to William Friedkin’s iconic 1973 original. Interestingly, though, it was previously reported that Friedkin won’t have any creative power over the latest installment – despite the fact that he originally brought the story to life on the big screen.

Though the film features a parade of newcomers and doesn’t take any inspiration from the franchise’s original director, Horror Stans are more than excited to see Green’s project come to fruition. And the fact that the film is expected to be released on a Friday the 13th makes it that much better.

The Exorcist The sequel is expected to terrify audiences on October 13, 2023.
