‘The Flash’ 9×09 Trailer: Stephen Amell returns

“Barry, Barry, Barry… What did you do this time?”

The Flash faced another kind of crisis last season when Stephen Amell joined David Ramsey, Keiynan Lonsdale and Sendhil Ramamurthy, reprise their respective Arrowverse roles later this month. And TVLine has an exclusive first look at the trailer for the guest-starred outing.

Titled “It’s My Party And I’ll Die If I Want To,” and directed by actress Danielle Panabaker, the April 26 episode begins with a surprise birthday party for Barry, who, yes, turns 30 again. (The season 8 finale’s supercharge, it’s explained, aged the speedster a bit.) Unfortunately, Ramsey Rosso aka Bloodwork proves to be quite an uninvited spoilsport after escaping ARGUS to catapult Flash, Iris, John Diggle and Wally West et al. into a nightmare scenario.

As Barry tries to navigate the perilous situation, the trailer tells us “A Hero Returns,” in the form of Arrow Vet Amell.

“Stephen and I, it’s like we’re putting the band back together.” Flash Star Grant told Gustin TVLine during a visit to our New York office. “Just good times and lots of laughs.”

Amell, in turn, told TVLine he was part of it The Lightning‘s farewell run “was really special” and that the April 26 episode will “100 percent” delight fans with a super load of callbacks.

“We’re here to play the hits, man,” Amell assured. “We’re not trying to reinvent the wheel.”

The Lightning Season 9 continues tonight at 8/7c with “Partners in Time,” which Gustin told us is one of his favorite episodes of the season.
