The God of War Ragnarok release date announcement has reportedly been delayed

While some reputable insiders and trusted leakers were hinting at a possible state of affairs regarding a full presentation of God of War Ragnarok in late June 2022, Sony appears to have changed plans towards the game’s release date.

Earlier this month, Jason Schreier released a new report via Bloomberg regarding the God of War Ragnarok release date, assert that its sources have confirmed that the game is still on track for a 2022 release and a release date announcement from Sony is slated for later this month.

That being said, we’re already on the last day of June 2022, and Sony hasn’t announced anything regarding God of War Ragnarok as of yet. While it has already ignited some rumors surrounding Ragnarok’s internal delay, Schreier still believes the game can be released later this year.

In a recent tweet, Jason Schreier revealed that Sony had planned a showcase for God of War Ragnarok for June 30, but it has been postponed internally, according to well-known sources. However, Schreier claimed that to his knowledge the game has not yet been delayed.

One way or another, a delay in announcing God of War Ragnarok’s release date has already got fans worried about a possible delay to 2023.

God of War Ragnarok has the potential to be one of PS5’s biggest exclusives, but launching it in 2022 and taking on Elden Ring at The Game Awards would be a risky decision by Sony if they’re making another Game of plan the annual trophy.

On the other hand, Microsoft has already pushed back two big titles to 2023 and isn’t releasing anything big from its first-party studios this year, easing the pressure on Sony to release God of War Ragnarok this year.

Last but not least, if the release of God of War Ragnarok in 2023 ensures a quality experience, then postponing it to next year is probably the right decision.

At the end of the day, it’s Sony’s call on whether to launch God of War Ragnarok in 2022 or 2023, but we’ll likely hear about the decision sooner rather than later. The God of War Ragnarok release date announcement has reportedly been delayed
