The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special has fans who fear for the safety of a specific Avenger

The Guardians of the Galaxy Christmas Special is here now to spread some early festive cheer as the 45 minute standalone just landed on Disney Plus today. James Gunn really pulled out all the stops to provide a really wholesome story that ticks off all the classic Christmas special tropes. However, the gifting scene of the special presentation takes a surprisingly dark turn.

At the end of the special, once the Guardians are reunited on Knowhere, the gang exchange their Christmas presents. Nebula (Karen Gillan) finally gives Rocket (Bradley Cooper) something he’s been after for years: a specific prosthetic arm made out of Vibranium. Yes, Bucky Barnes’ cybernetic appendage now apparently belongs to Rocket.

While this is probably just intended as a fun throwaway gag referring to a joke made by Rocket and the Winter Soldier’s first meeting Avengers: Infinity War, that moment has left fans fearing for Bucky’s safety. How did Nebula get Bucky’s arm? Is he alright? Did the Wakandans give him a replacement? We have so many questions, James Gunn, and we need answers.

Some Christmas Bucky has…

Is it possible that there are a lot of vibranium weapons out there in the galaxy?

Any Marvel fan when Rocket opened his gift:

Also, kudos to this particular fan for managing to predict exactly what happened (note the timestamp).

Next we see Sebastian Stan’s Sergeant Barnes in thunderbolts, out July 2024. Werbekunst has assured us that Bucky will have his arm back in this film, so rest assured the Winter Soldier is only temporarily armless. Maybe we’ll find out the story behind this mystery in the next one Guardians of the Galaxy Christmas Special?
