The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is a reminder that the MCU’s worst movie hasn’t been forgotten

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is producing more and more content at a near-unstoppable rate, but among all the blockbuster feature films and Disney Plus shows, one question arises more than almost any other; What about the Eternals?

Producer and franchise veteran Nate Moore confirmed that there are plans to bring the characters back into the MCU mix, but he wouldn’t reveal details about who, what, when, where or why. Barry Keoghan would love to return as Druig, but he has no idea what’s going on, and neither does Kumail Nanjiani – whom Keoghan pesters regularly with possible updates.

However, the future of the intergalactic immortals remains completely mysterious, but James Gunn at least threw in a bone for fans The Guardians of the Galaxy Christmas Special. While Drax and Mantis spend their alcoholic night on the town, we briefly see a billboard advertisement Kingo’s Christmasa celebratory film in canon starring the “latest generation” of the legendary Bollywood family.

It’ll blink and you’ll miss it, but it’s a helpful reminder nonetheless eternal not completely swept under the rug. Gunn loves to throw Easter Eggs into almost every project he does, but most of them relate to his own work. Kingo obviously doesn’t, so as we progress through stages five and six, let’s hope we get more and more glimpses of the alien invaders because at the very least we’ll earn a handful of cameos scattered throughout the upcoming panel.
