The gun was pointed at the driver during an alleged downtown Auburn traffic frenzy incident

AUBURN, Alabama (WRBM) – A suspected incident involving a firearm while driving in Auburn is under investigation. Auburn University Campus Safety & Security was alerted between 5:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Thursday to a disturbing incident that resulted in serious bodily harm at the intersection of Samford Avenue and South College Street on Wednesday

According to the victim, the confrontation occurred during a traffic situation when the victim was confronted with another driver who was displaying aggressive behavior. Tensions escalated at a traffic light when the perpetrator allegedly drew a gun and pointed it at the victim. No shots were fired and the driver was driving north on South College Street in a maroon vehicle believed to be an older Chevrolet Camaro.

The Auburn Police Department has launched an active investigation and is encouraging anyone with relevant information to call 334-246-1391.

Auburn University officials are urging all community members to exercise caution while driving. It is important to avoid conflicts with other drivers to prevent situations from escalating into acts of violence.
