The Jan. 6 committee hearing, scheduled for tomorrow, has been postponed due to Hurricane Ian, sources say

WASHINGTON– The Jan. 6 House of Representatives committee scheduled for Wednesday has been postponed because of Hurricane Ian, according to sources familiar with the decision.

The storm is expected to make landfall in Florida around the same time as the hearing.

“With Hurricane Ian impacting portions of Florida, we have decided to postpone tomorrow’s hearing,” Chair Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., and Vice Chair Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., said in a statement . “We pray for the safety of all who find themselves in the path of the storm. The Special Committee’s investigation is ongoing and we will announce a date for the postponed trial shortly.”

Rep. Stephanie Murphy, a Democratic member of the body, represents Florida’s 7th congressional district.

The committee was due to reconvene Wednesday for a noon hearing after a two-month hiatus.
