“The Mosquito Coast” canceled on Apple TV Plus, no season 3

The Fox family’s journey into the wild has been cut short: Apple TV+ has been cancelled The Mosquito Coast after two seasonsaccording to our sister site Deadline.

The Mosquito Coast Justin Theroux starred as inventor Allie Fox, who lives off the grid with his wife Margot and their two teenagers. In Season 1, Allie took his family on the run and got caught up in Mexican drug cartels south of the border. In season 2, the foxes retreated to the jungles of Guatemala to live with a community of refugees. Melissa George starred as Margot, with Logan Polish as daughter Dina and Gabriel Bateman as son Charlie.

It debuted on Apple TV+ in 2021 with a seven-episode freshman season and returned for Season 2 last November. The 10-episode Season 2 ended earlier this month.

The series is based on the novel by Paul Theroux that inspired a 1986 film starring Harrison Ford. Theroux told Deadline that a potential third season “would spill over into the book itself and the film’s quest for a utopian community,” using the previous two seasons as a prologue.
