The new expansion, Layers of Fear, puts you in the director’s chair

Layers of Fear developer Bloober Team has announced that a new free expansion, The Final Prologue, is coming to its first-person psychological horror game on October 24th, a date that also commemorates the studio’s 15th anniversary.
The update will begin rolling out at 1 a.m. PT / 4 a.m. ET and will immerse players in the psyche of a famous film director as he attempts to complete his ultimate masterpiece while chaos reigns on the set around him.
This new story expands on the story originally told in 2019’s Layers of Fear 2, when that game revolved around an actor exploring a seemingly abandoned ship while following the instructions of an unseen director. This time the roles are reversed and the players direct the film’s plot as they work to complete a cinematic and horrifying film influenced by the actions of both inner demons and vile external forces.

In case you missed it, Layers of Fear is a complete remake of the first two games, as Bloober Team rebuilt them in Unreal Engine 5 and also includes all of the associated DLC. The Final Note and The Writer’s Story were new additions to this rebooted anthology series and helped tie the two games together.
Bloober Team previously announced this new expansion with an “official” Layers of Fear song. Sung by singer Natalia Szroeder, the track is a new and darker version of “You Are My Sunshine” and was even treated as a music video.
