The only film the creators of Stranger Things have directed is a hidden gem of horror

At this stage you’d have to travel far and wide to find anyone who doesn’t know who the Duffer Brothers are, which is understandable when the sibling duo are responsible for one of the most popular and hit TV shows of the last decade. However, no one seems to remember their 2015 feature, make it happen, or even care Hidden.
That’s a shame, though, because the post-apocalyptic nightmare definitely deserves to be seen by as many people as possible, and not just because it’s an early showcase of how Matt and Ross are capable of taking a familiar setup and well-trodden ones Taking on tropes to give them a new perspective.
Thankfully, the horror-loving masses on Reddit have rallied behind the sorely overlooked gem that has endured a rather tortured existence. Filmed in summer 2012, Hidden wasn’t even released until November 2015, where, despite stellar responses from critics and audiences, it immediately faded into the sands of time.

Alexander Skarsgård and Andrea Riseborough star as a couple trying to protect their daughter after a virus that decimated the population a year earlier. As they flee to a nuclear bunker, it quickly becomes clear that threats from both inside and outside loom, plunging the family into a desperate struggle for survival.
The Duffer Brothers have remained immersed in the world of television ever since Wayward pines and stranger things, but with the latter’s fifth season marking its grand finale, a return to the world of movies may beckon. If that happens, make sure you don’t continue to sleep Hidden to find out what they can bring to the table.
