The Scream star’s ‘F***ing Loss’ tweets angered fans – “I was in a dark room for a few months,” admits Heather Matarazzo

Horror movie Scream and The Princess Diaries Star Heather Matarazzo recently said she wrote a series of dark and disturbing tweets after feeling like she’d hit a rock bottom in her career.
Feeling frustrated, Matarazzo tweeted about constant struggles in her 30-year acting career. And that “I have dedicated my life to acting for over 30 years. And I’m tired of just fighting to survive…” Adding, “I just need one win. A life changing victory. Because it isn’t. F***.”
Many fans were concerned about Matarazzo’s mental health. And she said she was at an extremely low point in her life – but there was a reason she was so frustrated.
The ‘Scream’ star said she is ‘fluent’ in rejecting it
Matarazzo said the tweets, which she eventually deleted, were sparked when a huge acting job flew by. “Oh, it’s gone. It’s completely gone,” she said on the Behind the velvet rope with David Yontef podcast. “And I was in a dark room for a couple of months. It was heartbreaking you know? And I’m so used to it, too, because rejection is like the name of the game in this industry.”

“I’m fluent in denial,” she continued. “I don’t usually get upset or whatever. Because I think it’s like, OK, the universe is like a detour, that’s not for you. But it’s a little different when it’s for you and you know it’s for you. And then the decision made has nothing to do with you, it has to do with executives making fear-based decisions because of shareholders.”
Heather Matarazzo literally had a big role taken from her
Matarazzo stressed that the missed opportunity was literally life-changing. “This was something I felt rightly deserved and was unceremoniously snatched from under me within 24 hours,” she said.
Later in the interview, she added, “Especially after a year, especially after being into it for a year and over and over, it would have been different if I hadn’t actually been offered the role,” she said. “It wasn’t that, we’re in a fight between you and someone else. It was congratulations. Can she leave tomorrow? We are in the process of drafting the contracts, and then 24 hours later.”
Frustration prompted Heather to tweet about the big job loss
The bottom line is that Scream Star had a bad day on Twitter. “And on top of that, when you’ve been committed to something for so long, you know, and I know, that I’m good,” she said of her acting career. “Obviously there’s always room for me to improve, which is why I want to be constantly in that midfield where I can work with people who improve my performance and I can also improve others. It is a community as it really is.”
“And yes, so again, the good news is that you never know what the day will bring, you know?” she said. “And I think I’ve had enough experiences in my life that even if my ego feels a little bruised and even if there are parts of me that feel very disappointed, there’s a deeper space where I know I’m definitely here to do more. How that will manifest and what that will look like I personally have no idea, but I’m open to what that will look like.”
