The Starfield mod actually makes space travel possible

One of the many disappointing things about Starfield is that its version of space travel boils down to watching cutscenes to get to space/surface or travel between planets. It’s basically a collection of loading screens that keep reminding you that you’re loading between different levels and not actually traveling in space.
Of course, there’s a Starfield mod that fixes this, although it’s not quite what you’d expect.

Modder 105gun is responsible for the clunky name Slower Than Light – Fly in a star system, available to download now on Nexus Mods. The mod does two things.
Firstly, it is possible to control your ship’s speed levels using hotkeys. While Starfield certainly allows you to control the speed of your ship, it does not allow you to go beyond normal flight speed and switch to light speed. With the ability to reach warp speed, the mod allows travel within a star system – without encountering a loading screen or cutscene.
You will travel at “hundreds” of the speed of light, but it will still take a while to reach other planets. While you can slow down your speed significantly to accommodate the issue of planets not loading fast enough – an issue that people who have tried this without a mod have encountered – the mod’s creator admits that the implementation is currently “clumsy”.
Currently, the mod only works when you travel to other planets within the same star system. You also can’t land on planetary surfaces, as that’s simply not a feature of Starfield. However, the developer is counting on the upcoming release of Bethesda’s Creation Kit – practically official mod tools – to be able to better integrate the mod into the game.
The video below shows it quite well – including some bugs – but the ship they’re flying could be something to consider A SPOILER. So don’t proceed if you are sensitive about this.
If you want to download the mod, 105gun recommends backing up your save file before installing as it will affect ship speed and other parameters. We would recommend doing this before installing a mod, but not all of them are that drastic.
We have a whole list of the best Starfield mods that we update whenever we come across solid new additions.
Thanks, PC Gamers.
