The trailer for “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” gives a first look at the DCU sequel

A teaser trailer for the upcoming DC sequel, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, offers our first look at Jason Momoa’s return as an underwater superhero. Published with kind permission of Warner Bros. Pictures, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is one of the final installments of the DC film universe before the franchise is renewed into the DCU by filmmaker James Gunn and producer Peter Safran. Check out the teaser trailer Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom below.

Directed by James Wan from a screenplay by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldric. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom When an ancient power is unleashed, Momoa’s Arthur Curry once again fights the good fight. Aquaman must forge an uneasy alliance with an unlikely ally to protect Atlantis and the world from irreversible destruction.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will reunite several members of the cast from the first film, including Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry/Aquaman, Amber Heard as Mera, Patrick Wilson as Orm Marius/Ocean Master, Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus, Temuera Morrison as Thomas Curry, Arthur’s father, and Nicole Kidman as Atlanna, Arthur’s mother and former queen of Atlantis. Will Jason Momoa leave Aquaman behind in favor of Lobo?

While we wait for Jason Momoa’s return as DCU superhero Aquaman, the actor may have already taken on another role in the franchise – the anti-hero Lobo. While nothing has been confirmed yet, rumors have been circulating for some time that Momoa will be switching roles for the recalibrated DCU. A report from THR states that Momoa will be stepping down from the underwater hero role after the release of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and slip into Lobo’s big boots instead.

“Momoa could become a key figure in the new plans, according to multiple sources,” the report said. “In one scenario, the actor would conclude his days as underwater hero Arthur Curry with Lost City, due out in December. This would be the last released film made by the previous regime. But it wouldn’t mean the end of the actor’s involvement with DC, as sources say the actor would take on the lead role in another film or franchise. The character of Lobo, a foul-mouthed, cigar-chomping intergalactic bounty hunter, was mentioned in connection with Momoa.”

Lobo is certainly a role that would suit Momoa, and arguably better than Aquaman, plus it’s a character that the actor loves. There are still several projects in the first chapter of James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU that have yet to be announced, and many believe that it will actually be one Lobo Project led by Momoa. Of course, it’s unlikely that this will be released before the release of the Aquaman Consequence.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom The release is scheduled for December 20, 2023
