A new video shows a jewelry store employee shooting at robbery suspects

MANHATTAN BEACH, Calif. (KABC) — A new video shows the moment a Manhattan Beach jewelry store employee pulled out a gun and shot five suspects during a thrilling robbery.

The incident occurred just after 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Prestige Jewelers on N Sepulveda Boulevard.

The video shows several employees helping a couple when five suspects suddenly storm the store. In another view, a surveillance camera appears to have captured a sixth person – a man – holding the door open for the group.

The robbers immediately begin smashing glass display cases with hammers, stealing goods and placing them in black plastic containers.

Within seconds, the employee fires at least one bullet at the suspects, who immediately run out of the store upon hearing gunshots. The suspects drove away in several cars waiting outside, police said.

A description of the suspects was not immediately available, but videos showed most of them were wearing hoodies, gloves and masks. It is unclear whether any of them were hit by the gunfire.

No other worker injuries were reported.

The store was actually the target of a similar robbery in 2014. Now the store owners hope surveillance videos will help police catch the suspects.
