The weight and dimensions of the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro are known before the “Wonderlust” launch event

Details about the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max were leaked in a new report just before the company’s launch event in September, titled “Wonderlust.” Several details about the company’s upcoming iPhone 15 smartphone series have surfaced online in recent months, such as the color options for the regular and Pro models as well as their internal specifications. Now the weight and dimensions of the upcoming iPhone 15 range have been revealed, giving us an idea of what to expect from the company’s next handsets.
A MacRumors report citing unnamed sources claims that the iPhone 15 will measure 147.6 x 71.6 x 7.8mm and weigh 171g. These dimensions are almost identical to those of the iPhone 14, which measures 146.7 x 71.5 x 7.8 mm and weighed 172 g – the upcoming model is expected to weigh a gram less than its predecessor. According to the report, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will also use the same 6013 T6 aluminum material for the body, just like the 2022 model.
On the other hand, the weight difference could be larger for the Pro models. According to the report, the iPhone 15 Pro will measure 146.6 x 70.6 x 8.25mm and weigh 188g – last year’s iPhone 14 Pro dimensions were 147.5 x 71.5 x 7.85mm and the handset weighed 147.5 x 71.5 x 7.85mm 206g. While the new model appears to be thicker, its weight is said to have dropped by 8.73 percent.
The iPhone 14 Pro Max, which was introduced last year, also measured 160.7 x 77.6 x 7.85 mm and weighed 240 g, but its successor is said to weigh 221 g and measure 159.9 x 76.7 x 8.25 mm . This suggests Apple’s top-of-the-line model will be 7.91 percent lighter than the Pro Max model unveiled at Apple’s “Far Out” event in September 2022.
The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models are expected to feature a titanium body instead of the stainless steel material used in last year’s handsets. This should make smartphones lighter and more durable this year. Meanwhile, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are expected to feature the same aluminum body, suggesting that the weight of these smartphones is unlikely to change significantly.
Last month it was predicted that the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max would weigh 191g and 221g respectively due to the rumored switch to a titanium body. While the weight reduction is minimal and the Pro variants will still be heavier than the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, the lighter body could offset the weight of a protective case on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models.
