Thread search is now generally available

Threads is still missing many important features, but search is no longer one of them. At least in “most English- and Spanish-speaking countries.”

You’ll get back to threads faster than you think

On Thursday, six days after Meta owner Mark Zuckerberg (via Vin Diesel) hinted that a search feature was coming, he released an update to announce that it was officially launching.

Countries getting the new feature include the US, UK, India, Mexico and Argentina, according to TechCrunch.

After what felt like a rather abrupt launch, Threads has slowly released updates to its (initially rather tired) interface. The app launched on desktop, introduced a follow feed, added a separate feed for reposts, and allowed users to add custom alt text.

However, there is still a lot missing: Users request, among other things, hashtags, an editing function and trending topics in the comments.
