Thunderstorms this afternoon, drier this weekend

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Rain is expected to return in the afternoon and evening. Rain develops and drifts southwest through sunset, expecting more extended showers south of I-4.

Again, afternoon highs will be below average. We’re staying in the mid 80’s this afternoon. Today is the first day of the year when the average high temperature is 90 degrees.

Dryer air continues to spread south tonight and we will notice lower humidity tomorrow morning. Saturday will be a real treat with highs in the 80s, plenty of sunshine, lower humidity and virtually no rain. If you don’t have any outdoor plans, make them.

Humidity remains low throughout Memorial Day weekend. While we can’t rule out an afternoon shower, the chance of rain is fairly low at this time of year.
The chance of rain and humidity will gradually increase again next week.
