While both Miller and Davis sought Trump’s coveted support, the former president eventually backed Miller, who has focused her campaign on her allegiance to Trump and objection to certifying the results of the 2020 presidential election.

“I am honored that President Trump is coming to the Quincy area to hold a rally after supporting me regarding RINO Rodney Davis stabbing President Trump in the back by voting for the January 6 sham commission has,” Miller said in a statement. “Downstate Illinois misses President Trump’s strong leadership of America First, which has ensured secure borders, a booming economy and energy independence.”

Though Davis was once a welcome member of the Trump camp and served as co-chair of the former president’s Illinois re-election campaign, he appears to have angered Trump for proposing a bipartisan commission to investigate the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol would have. His proposal found no support in the House of Representatives.

House Democrats had offered Davis a seat on their own special committee, but the Republican declined and has since criticized the commission’s investigation.

On Friday, Miller celebrated the overturning of the Supreme Court decision Roe v. calf by thanking Trump for allowing the bench his conservative 6-3 majority.

“We applaud President Trump for doing what he said he would and appointing Supreme Court justices who value life,” said Miller, a mother of seven a video shared on their social media. “I want to promise you that I will always defend and promote life, and that’s why today makes us extremely happy.”

Trump also took credit for reversing roeand said the decision “only became possible because I delivered everything as promised, including nominating and confirming three highly respected and strong constitutional lawyers before the United States Supreme Court”.

“These major victories prove that while the Radical Left is doing everything in its power to destroy our country, your rights are protected, the country is defended and there is still hope and time to save America!” Trump said in a statement on Friday. “I will never stop fighting for the greats of our nation!”
