Today’s Wordle has “too many options,” say frustrated players

How long have you been playing Wordle? The game, which was purchased by The New York Times for an undisclosed (no doubt high) seven-figure sum, has been a staple in people’s lives since its meteoric rise to viral success in October 2021. It even spawned console-friendly clones. But even experienced players will still struggle with some of the trickier words – and today some players expressed their frustration with one of the game’s trickiest answers in some time.
There will be spoilers for today’s Wordle answer below the video. So be aware of this before you scroll down – I don’t want to tell you this if you haven’t completed the challenge yet.

The answer to the Wordle challenge on September 20th is:LOOP‘. And a quick look online will tell you that the solution to today’s mystery has angered fans – and in some cases even doomed it to failure.
“Little unusual word! Try unusual options first!” offered to a player online. “Too many options today!” said another, replying with a picture showing that he had managed to solve the word on his last attempt. “If only I could take the sign the universe is giving me today and go back to bed,” says another (who also solved it on the fifth try).
Why do so many people have problems? Well, considering the word is SNARE, most players had trouble with the second letter – in the grids you see on social media, the second letter is mostly grayed out. This means they choose options like SHARE, STARE, SPARE and SCARE instead. One of the most common Wordle seed words is ARISE, and even that won’t help you much in answering today’s challenge. So you can understand why people are frustrated.
“Wordle made me angry today. “Absolutely bloody angry,” says one player – who didn’t share his grid. Sorry, buddy, because that’s certainly the kind of word meant to end streaks.
