Torrance Light Aircraft Crash: 2 dead after a single-engine Arion Lightning crashed at Zamperini Field Airport

TORRANCE, Calif. (KABC)– Two people were killed in a light plane crash at a Torrance airport on Wednesday morning, officials said.
The Federal Aviation Administration said the crash happened around 11 a.m. as the pilot attempted to land a single-engine Arion Lightning airplane at Zamperini Field Airport.
The two people on board were killed. They have not yet been identified.
AIR7 HD was above the wreckage where there was a significant response from local authorities after the plane crashed on a grassy area at the west end of an airstrip.
Officials from the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will be investigating the cause of the crash.
The airport was closed during the investigation. No other injuries were reported.
