Trump asks what’s going on with the Obama administration and urges an investigation

Former President Donald Trump has lashed out at Special Counsel Jack Smith, demanding he investigate “what’s going on” with former President Barack Obama’s administration on his behalf.

Trump argued on Wednesday that Smith was working for “Marxist-Democrat friends” and suggested he focus his investigation on Obama. Trump pointed out that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s email scandal occurred during the Obama administration, while classified documents found in President Joe Biden’s private office and home dated from his days as Vice President under Obama.

“Why don’t you ask President Obama what’s going on with his administration?” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Crooked Hillary took 33,000 emails and illegally deleted and acid washed AFTER receiving a subpoena for those emails from the United States Congress and who knows how many secret documents Joe took, particularly pertaining to on Ukraine and China.”

“Perhaps Trump Hating Special ‘D.A.’ Jack Smith, who is doing the dirty work for his Marxist Democrat friends, should be doing what’s right for our country!” he continued.

Smith was hired by Attorney General Merrick Garland in November to lead two inquiries into Trump’s activities leading up to the Jan. 6 attack on the US Capitol and his post-presidency possession of classified documents.

Shortly after urging Smith to investigate the Obama administration, Trump, in another Truth Social post, lamented that the country had “become the investigative capital of the world.”

“Actually, that’s all we do, and it’s only good for our many enemies,” Trump wrote. “They couldn’t be happier as they plan our demise brilliantly!!!”

This month, Garland appointed Trump-appointed US Attorney for the District of Maryland Robert K. Hur as special counsel investigating the Biden documents.

After classified documents were found in the August search of Mar-a-Lago, Trump falsely claimed Obama had hoarded “33 million documents,” including many that were classified.

Clinton, Trump’s opponent in the 2016 presidential election, was repeatedly investigated for her handling of emails. A 2019 investigation by Trump’s State Department found that there had been no intentional misuse of classified information.

Clinton laughed when asked if Trump kept secret documents at Mar-a-Lago during an appearance The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon in September.

Around the same time, the former first lady tweeted out dismissing comparisons between her emails and the Trump documents.

“I can’t believe we’re still talking about this, but my emails…” Clinton tweeted. “As Trump’s troubles continue to mount, the right is trying to do this again at me. There is even a ‘Clinton Standard’. In fact, I had zero emails that got classified.”
