Former President Donald Trump called Friday’s Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade “the biggest WIN for LIFE in a generation” — hailing the outcome of the controversial decision to overturn federal abortion rights.

Trump nominated three of the five conservative Supreme Court justices responsible for overthrowing Roe v. Wade had voted: Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett.

This trio ensured victory in the decision that revoked the constitutional right to abortion that had existed for nearly half a century. Judge Samuel Alito provided the majority opinion in the case, which Judge Clarence Thomas also joined in support.

Trump said in a statement Friday’s ruling and other recent court decisions “were only possible because I delivered everything as promised, including the nomination and confirmation of three highly respected and strong constitutional lawyers before the United States Supreme Court.”

“It was a great honor for me to do this!” said Trump.

Coney Barrett was confirmed in the Supreme Court just about a week before the 2020 presidential election, which Trump eventually lost.

Her nomination by Trump was pushed through the Senate process after the death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg, as Republicans feared they would not have the votes to confirm her after the Senate election later that year.

Kavanaugh’s 2018 nomination ran into serious trouble after a woman alleged that he and one of his high school classmates sexually abused her in the 1980s. Kavanaugh denied her allegations and was narrowly confirmed by the Senate.

Gorsuch’s 2017 nomination by Trump came after then-Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell declined a year earlier to hold a hearing to confirm then-President Barack Obama’s pick for the Supreme Court following the death of conservative Justice Antonin Scalia . Obama had nominated Merrick Garland, who currently serves as US Attorney General.

Trump said in his statement that he “did not back down to the radical left Democrats, their fake news media partners, or the RINOs [Republicans in Name Only] who are also the true but silent enemies of the people.”

“These major victories prove that even though the Radical Left is doing everything in its power to destroy our country, your rights are protected, the country is defended and there is still hope and time to save America! I will never stop fighting for the greats of our nation!” Trump said.
