Twitter has talked about Elon Musk’s future, but will he really keep his word?

Elon Musk has made a lot of incredibly stupid decisions this year, but we’re bet even he knew that posting a poll asking if he should remain Twitter boss ran the risk of further public humiliation. Now the results are official and a clear majority of the 17.5 million voters say he has to go.

57.5% say he should resign, 42.5% want him to stay:

Musk has hinted that he will indeed be true to his word by posting last night:

If he’s genuinely sincere and this isn’t another 4-dimensional chess roll, we suspect Twitter users, Musk’s investors, Tesla shareholders, and anyone with any financial interest in Musk’s company will breathe a sigh of relief. His tenure as head of one of the world’s largest social media companies has been nothing short of disastrous, with ill-conceived changes to the platform inevitably followed by embarrassing about-faces.

Musk’s already tarnished reputation has taken a hit over the past week. We’ve seen him get booed by the crowd at a Dave Chappelle performance, prove his thin-skinned nature by banning journalists who were critical of him, and the bizarre decision not to post links to other social media Ban platforms on Twitter.

Potential replacements for Musk are already making their case, with MySpace Tom jokingly suggesting he should make a comeback on social media as a replacement. And there’s Twitter user supreme @dril, who may be the only man who really understands what this platform is all about.

We’re awaiting an official response from Musk to the poll, but whatever that is, don’t expect the drama to die down any time soon. Twitter has talked about Elon Musk’s future, but will he really keep his word?
