Truck crashes into hair salon in West Hollywood

WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (KABC) — Security video captured the frightening moment a pickup truck plowed through a West Hollywood barbershop, nearly injuring a customer.

The accident occurred Thursday morning at Trendsetters Barbershop near La Brea and Fountain avenues.

In the footage you can see a red Ford pickup truck rolling across the street and racing into the store entrance. A customer getting his hair cut was almost hit by a machine that was thrown into the air by the truck.

“One of the main barbers, Eugene, turned the customer sitting in that chair around and missed him by literally half an inch,” said witness Caleb Swasey.

Swasey says the driver appeared to have left the pickup idling and improperly parked it at a nearby gas station. Then the pickup started moving.

A video showed the driver running alongside the vehicle and trying to prevent the truck from colliding.

Renovation work is currently underway to repair the extensive damage. The hair salon is closed, and although the crash placed a huge financial burden on the owners and barbers, everyone is glad they escaped without a scratch on their head.

A GoFundMe account was set up to help repair the hair salon.
