[VIDEO] ‘1923’ Brandon Sklenar Interview – Spencer and Alexandra

With more than a week until then 1923 continues his freshman season, may we interest you in some teasing from Episode 5 and beyond, courtesy of star Brandon Sklenar?

When TVLine chatted with the actor recently, we first covered Spencer’s emotional bombshell from the end of Episode 4. In case you need a refresher: After a considerable period of seafront snogging, Alexandra persuaded her taciturn fiancé to finally open the pack of letters from too home that he had carried with him since the war. As the pair read them together, they learned that Spencer’s brother John had been killed in an ambush by angry sheep farmers and that his uncle Jacob had probably disappeared as well. “Once it’s been that long, you almost don’t want to know because it’s too painful to know,” Sklenar says in the video above. “And I think there’s something in the back of his mind where he’s expecting one of those letters to be ‘Someone is dead.’ Something happens.'”

Now that Dutton’s nephew is aware of the threat to both his Aunt Cara and the family ranch, “I can say he’s taking immediate action to get home,” he says, adding, “It won’t be for anyone.” easier, I can put it in classic Taylor Sheridan fashion.”

We also covered the sparks in the Spencer/Alexandra relationship (“the more they go through together, the deeper their bond becomes,” Sklenar says of his character’s deep love for — and seething attraction — for Julia Schlaepfer’s Alex) and why Banner Creighton and his crew may want to skedaddle before Spencer returns to Montana (“You definitely don’t want to kill the brother of the man who is one of the most decorated heroes of WWI and who hunts for a living. You don’t want this one make the cage wobble”).
