[VIDEO] Chicago Med: Season 8 Episode 5 – Ethan/April Reunion

dr Ethan Choi didn’t expect to run into his ex-fiancé in the emergency room this Wednesday Chicago Med (NBC, 8/7c), which makes for an awkward moment in TVLine’s exclusive sneak peek.

In the above scene, April (former series star Yaya DaCosta) apologizes to Ethan for the “secret assault” that just took place in a patient’s treatment room. She was worried it was going to be awkward, and boy are the two trying to manage this unexpected face-to-face encounter. But a lot has changed since the couple split and April left the hospital. For example, when April states that bypassing the system must be giving the ED boss a headache, Ethan happily replies, “It’s a good thing I’m not anymore. My choice.”

And Ethan isn’t the only person April bumps into when visiting the Med: she also exchanges a few words with Crockett, who you might remember kissing her once.

As previously reported, Brian Tee, who has played Ethan since the series debuted in 2015, will be leaving the NBC drama this season on the December 7 episode entitled “Could Be the Start of Something New.” (He’ll be returning to make his directorial debut in Episode 16.) Meanwhile, DaCosta’s return in this week’s episode comes after her surprise appearance in the Season 8 premiere. At the time, executive producer Diane Frolov told TVLine that the actress would be back for a few more episodes to “conclude” April and Ethan’s relationship. Hmm, could the two ride into the sunset together?
