[VIDEO] “Clueless” Super Bowl Commercial – Alicia Silverstone

Who could be a better spokesman for a shopping platform than clueless‘ Very Own Cher Horowitz? (Amber?! As if!)

In a new Super Bowl ad for Rakuten, Alicia Silverstone reprises one of her most famous roles alongside fellow co-star Elissa Donovan, and once again the debate is high bitter. The spot begins with Cher (Silverstone) and Amber (Donovan) in their classroom discussing whether “tax responsible shopping” is a contradiction in terms. But Cher once again takes the pie by highlighting the perks of the service, including its many cash back opportunities.

Throughout the clip (embedded above), we see recreations of others, like totally famous Sets from the 1995 film, including Cher’s bedroom (with a custom-made rotating shelf for her wardrobe, of course), favorite shops, and the Beverly Hills mansion where she wastes no time crashing her Jeep Wrangler into a pickup truck. (“Who put The There?!”)

Cher quickly gains her class, prompting Amber to ask for a rebuttal, which Cher declares will surely “re-brutally.” The back and forth brings Donovan into one of Amber’s signature “whatever” hand signals.

“I think most of us would agree that Cher is one of the most famous buyers in film history,” Silverstone said in a statement. “So when Rakuten approached me to reprise the role for their Super Bowl commercial, I thought it was a great idea. Cher always found the smartest way to get what she wanted, so I think Rakuten would really appeal to her.”

An abridged 30-second version of the spot will air during Super Bowl LVII between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles. The big game – which will include a halftime show performance by Rihanna – will air Sunday, February 12 at 6:30/5:30 p.m. on Fox.
